Good job Mike.

I like "like" as you can get variations within models (never know with HP etc),
which may still be supported in your environment, hence dropping the last bit.
(e.g. DM)

David - yes MDT "gather" and %model% perfectly fine, points 2 & 3 (and infer
opposite to 1) from below do come into play sometimes when you have many
manufacturers/models, hence using WMI.

A common standard (using WMI) is then applicable, regardless of scenario.

Easier to doco and coach engineers ... when point 1 (from above) could be
feasible, but in some scenarios 2 (or 3) do occur.

Though ... "There's more than one way to skin a cat" :-)

Shane – We finally just received one today and WMI lists: HP 260 G1 DM
This Worked: select Model from Win32_ComputerSystem where Model = "HP 260 G1
DM"

David – Interesting. Can you point me in the right direction with that info.

Thanks all,

Mike

Just an idea...

Why don't you just use MDT Gather in your TS and instead of executing a new WMI
query on every single step, just use the %Model% variable set by MDT?

Cheers

David

We have 850 G1's ...

Select * From Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE Manufacturer Like "%Hewlett-Packard%"
and Model Like "%850 G1%"

Odd question. Anyone have the wmi name for a HP 260 G1 Desktop Mini PC? We
have a few of them on order and none on hand. I need to get the wmi in the task
sequence.

Thanks,
