I was recently researching this same issue and came across an article (sorry, I
don't have the link handy) that indicated the Lenovo connections manager tool
which they use on their laptops (other manufacturers have similar tools) takes
care of this and seems to run just fine on pretty much any hardware. The
article actually recommended trying it to confirm compatibility, but it seems
to work as advertised on everything I've tried it on here so far.
