Thank you… According to UltraBac (including a call to Support), Windows should detect “Medium Changers” and have a container. Inside the container should be something like “Unknown medium changer”. One updates that item with the driver in the UltraBac folder.
I am almost to the point of not only disconnecting the drives but pulling the card, rebooting, shutting down, then re-installing the card and connecting the drives. I also expect to spend more time on the phone with Quantum. Yesterday they had me update the library and drive firmware. Unfortunately, that update has not made the library show up yet… From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of s_kistenmacher Sent: Wednesday, May 27, 2015 5:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [NTSysADM] RE: OT, but it's my Windows 2012 backup server if i remember right you may need to update library also. We have been backing up to tape using UltraBac software and a Quantum Scaler i40 tape library. The library has two SAS tape drives (both HP LTO5). The server is an IBM x3550 M3. The drives are connected through an IBM M5025 SAS/SATA controller. With Win2003, all was well. We needed to upgrade to Windows 2015 R2. First step was to upgrade firmware using IBM tools (creates a bootable update USB chip). The tool failed on “5000-series RAID”. In the upgraded server, both tape drives appear. However, the library itself (called “Medium Changer” in Device Manager, when detected) does not appear. The IBM site has a firmware update, but the “Supported operating systems” are for Red Hat and SUSE linux or for VMWare ESX. Anyone out there solved anything like this?
