Do take into account that WP8.1 is not as manageable as iOS is. When it comes
to mobile devices and MDM, this is always something to remember: you can only
manage the device to the extent the vendor allows and per the capabilities that
they built in. We're all spoiled by Windows because it has a very rich
management capability that has built up over the last 20 years. Mobile Devices
don't. Also, mobile devices are designed for the consumer first so
manageability is always an after-thought. Thus, you not only need to ask about
how well an MDM solution works but how well can the device itself be managed.
And as mentioned, in this case, iOS is actually much better. I expect that gap
to close with Win10 though (maybe even go away now that the code base is the
same as the desktop).

It manages them very well. A list of compliance settings supported by Windows
Phone can be found where:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn376523.aspx

There should be more management capabilities in Windows Phone 10 as well.

Subject: [mssms] Intune management of Windows phones

How well does Intune manage Windows phones? Asking around policies that can be
pushed to devices, app blocking/whitelisting, wiping the device, just normal
MDM stuff. We are currently an iPhone department, but we are a Microsoft
department everywhere else. I figured if Intune does a good job of managing
Windows phones, that I could possibly start nudging in that direction. I'm not
a big Apple fan...
