I have experienced this also. I got around it by slipstreaming the packages
into the deployment process through the "Apply Patches" task sequence step. I
didn't want to have to manually track down and download all of the post SP1 Win
7 updates (about like 170 updates +/-) so on a whim I tried the steps outlined
below and it worked.

· Build a win 7 test VM with no updates

· Set windows updates to download only

· Check for updates and let the updates download to the folder
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

· Copied all of the folders out of there into a separate location

· Imported them into the MDT as OS packages

· Set them to install during the "Apply Patches" task sequence

Subject: [MDT-OSD] MDT Slow running Windows updates

Hello,

On all our machine with the latest updates are not the MDT task sequence for
"Windows Updates" takes several hours.

There is no activity from the machine and it just sits there for ages, and
after a while it will kick into life
In the logs I get

Beginning download... 1:36:16
Beginning installation.... 1:37:04

Thanks
