Apply network settings simply adds the info to the unattend.xml file and then
Windows Setup uses it to join the domain. Join Domain or Workgroup is directly
using Windows SPIs to perform the join just like you doing it in the GUI or
using netdom from the command-line.

Other than that, the under-lying process should be the same. Why are you trying
to use the Join Domain task? Also, please post the entire relevant snippet from
smsts.log showing the task running and the failure.

Subject: [MDT-OSD] Join domain vs apply network settings

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 with MDT 2013
Joining a domain in a OSD TS works perfect with the option Apply network
Settings.

But when I use the "Join Domain or Workgroup option", it fails. And I can't
logon locally with administrator account.
Error message account is disabled.
What are the different2 between these 2 options? Or am I doing something wrong
