I typically look up the HardwareID in Device Manager, then do a File Contents search for that value in the folder of the extracted drivers. The file names for the .inf files often have corresponding .sys, etc. files that can be fairly easily identified (and removed).
Intel Chipset is definitely another big one. Those downloaded drivers typically contain a ton of .inf files, only one or two of which (usually SMB) are actually required. Same thing; search for the HardwareID. I'm sure others have some similar tips. -Phil From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Wouden Sent: Tuesday, August 25, 2015 6:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [mssms] Extract *inf files We have different HP laptops. Extracting nic and other drivers generate a lot of files. How can I determine or extract only the files needed?
