I’ve only used the free product a bit, but there are a couple of things that I noticed that would concern me, and this may be the same for any VM-level backup solution.
For domain controllers you really need a System State backup to recover from. Using VEEAM that doesn’t seem to be an option. For Exchange Servers it doesn’t seem to be application aware, so the t-logs aren’t truncated. Both of these apparent drawbacks could apply to other apps besides AD and Exchange, of course. I’m bringing this up as more of a question than a critique because I’ve wondered if I’m correct about this. And possibly my experiences were because I’m using the free version. *From:* [email protected] [mailto: [email protected]] *On Behalf Of *Mark Liechty *Sent:* Tuesday, November 10, 2015 11:38 PM *To:* [email protected] *Subject:* Re: [NTSysADM] Veeam? Best solution ever. recovery and availability and replication and testing so much in front of everyone else there is no contest.
