No, you cannot use ByDell without first defining that and assigning how it is populated.
If this were me, I would use the Make property. MDT populates that with the manufacturer as part of the Gather step. Pull the logs from a machine and look at the ZTIGather log. It will show you what existing variables are available and what their values are. Granted this is an older post but it is still valid. It’s very useful and I use it often. http://deploymentbunny.com/2011/04/27/quick-and-dirty-testing-customsettings-ini-variables-in-mdt/ Using this you can test your CS.ini settings over and over until they are perfect without resorting to rebuilding machines. What I want to do is deploy applications dependant on hardware manufacturer. So For example, if I want to deploy Dell Command | Configure it will only be applied to Dell Laptops/Desktops, but not HP ones. I want to deploy them as mandatory applications and hide them from the Applications Wizard page. I believe I can do what I want via entries in the ConfiguratonSettings.ini file (mandatory Applications) but I don’t know how to do the filtering by manufacturer. I have settings in my cs.ini that are done ByLaptop for example, so can I do a ByDell or ByHP and then ByDell True, ByHP True etc? Please can anyone advise BTW, we do not use the Database here.
