Yea, I did get the iso for the 10586 build, and I can upgrade my third Windows
10 enterprise with it, but on my other two systems there was a period where
this was delivered via the built in “Update and Security” application, then it
was no longer available for my third system (which I installed a few weeks
later).

The issue is it never recognizes that I need an upgrade so there is nothing to
download and install.

There was no bulletin from MS or anyone else that they were going to stop the
delivery of W10E via WU, straight from MS. I don’t believe we are using WSUS.

So I’m not sure what happened.

I’ve check the Windows Update configuration on this system, and even reset it
to see if it will pick up the files, but no go. If there is something else you
can suggest to try, I’m all ears ☺

Thanks everyone for your continued help!

You asked if there was a way you could download the 10586 build. I thought you
were looking for the ISO because you couldn’t do the upgrade via WSUS or WU.

That said, yes you should be able to get the Enterprise version upgraded via WU
or WSUS. I’ve done it on four Windows 10 machines running Enterprise that are
domain-joined, so I don’t know why you’re having issues. I don’t think the
Media Creation Tool is appropriate for Enterprise, but I’m not sure. When you
say it won’t upgrade, do you mean it fails after starting the upgrade, or do
you mean that you are not offered the upgrade?

This is beside that point, but the four Windows 10 machines I mention are
behind WSUS, which is behind a TMG Firewall. WSUS wasn’t able to download the
bits because of a known issue with TMG, which MS apparently has no desire to
resolve. I needed to use the option to “check for updates from Windows Update”
instead of WSUS in order to do the upgrades.

So I can only get this update from the VL page? Funny my other two systems got
the update to 1511 through the Windows Critical Update option.

If I go to our VL page, it’s there. In the Description field for Windows 10
Enterprise, it says this:

“There are two downloads available for this Edition:
1. Windows 10 Enterprise (Released Jul '15)
2. Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 1511 (Released Nov '15)”

When I click on the Download link from there, I see the RTM ISO as well as the
one for version 1511.

I do remember when this first came out, that others saw something different on
their VL pages, so YMMV.

No, this is a volume licensed version we got from MS.

If you’re looking for an evaluation copy, it looks like you can get one here:

Subject: [NTSysADM] Windows 10 Enterprise - not able to get current build

So about 2 months ago I installed Windows 10 Enterprise to test it out.

A few weeks later I was prompted to upgrade to build 10586, which it did.

A few weeks ago I installed Windows 10 Enterprise on another system. It
installed 10240.

It will not upgrade to build 10586 – not sure why.

I downloaded the Media Creation tool, run it and it says “The language or
edition of the version of Windows currently installed on your PC isn’t
supported by this tool”

Anyone know what the issue is? Is there a way I can download the Windows 10
Enterprise build 10586?

Thanks,
Eric
