Just wanted to confirm the high-level steps to achieve this before I begin
trying it out in a lab. For background, a single site server running Win2008 R2
and CM 2012 SP1 CU3. I'm aware that support for upgrading the site server's OS
version has been introduced in TP 1602 but I don't have time to wait for this
to be promoted to Current Branch, and ultimately I'm put off by the aversion
others have on this list to upgrading operating systems.

So, with that in mind my high-level understanding of the process is:

*         Build a new 2012 R2 box

* Install and configure CM 2012 SP1 CU3 on the new box to match the
current box

* Do a backup of the site and restore it on the new box

* Upgrade CM on the new box to 1511

Then it's just a couple small things like migrating the SUP and DP - both of
which currently reside on the site server.

Daniel.
