I have a 2 node Win 2012 R2 Failover Cluster; it runs a SQL 2012 R2 instance. Right now, it has a temporary resource name, while we test it. However, this weekend this new cluster is supposed to go into production, taking the place of an older SQL 2012 cluster.
So I will need to rename the SQL Server Cluster Resource from it's temporary name to the production name. It seems to be as straightforward as just clicking on the "Rename" option in Failover Manager. Is that correct? I will have to take the old cluster resource offline first, of course. And change the IP from its temporary one to the production one. I may have to clean up DNS manually, I guess? Anything major I am missing here?
