Got it! After going to the rabbit hole abit, I opened the powershell script up completely by mistake with ISE.. straight after opening, it hung and went to not responding.. Odd I thought.. opened ISE again on its own and the same happened.. After much googling and not finding much, I decided to reinstall the Windows Management Framework 3.. quick restart later ISE opened fine.
I then reran the Powerscript and restarted smsexec and wahey! I can see it downloading ☺. This is only my Dev environment, so I’m not overly concerned something strange happened. I can only assume the script did not run properly the first time I ran it due to this issue. Just to answer previous questions for interest sake although maybe no longer relevant.. 1) no not tech preview. 2) Standalone Primary. 3) Update Ring script sql query returned no values prior to me ‘successfully’ running the script. Now returns value3=1. Thankyou for your help. (CAS or standalone primary?) You can use this SQL query to determine whether it worked and fast ring is set correctly (again, run this against SQL on the top level site in the hierarchy): select * from SC_Component_Property where name=N'UpdateRing' Paul – Before that error in cmupdate.log, there should be an actual error.
