I am wary of putting WMF4 on SBS 2011. Newer stuff was not built/wasn't
tested for/and suddenly we have a domain that does funky stuff/the
server runs out of resources.
Since you are long term planning a move, I'd fork out the money for a
server OS now/put it as a virtual server somewhere if you want ad sync.
I would not be installing things on SBS 2011 that it didn't ship with.

We got 3 to work with it, I'm not aware that we got a patch bundle for 4.

other options I don’t know about?
