I have been thinking lately that I would like to see an AC hub motor for a bike. I know that the KillaCycle is going AC, but still would be interesting to see it in a wheel. The way I figure it: Speed would be dependant on the hertz, the motor could be made fairly lightweight and cheap, there would be switching between wye and delta, and if added torque is needed then an DC motor can be hook in parallel via shaft or chain.
