> I do not like this time of year.
It does seem to bring out the best and worst of people, though I would
submit that the tragedy of the beating was simmering for a long time. Abused
women are all too often trapped either emotionally or financially. Abusing
men are usually head cases that are undiagnosed. A tragedy to be sure. I am
sorry to hear this.

>So, I measured my ADC 6.7" and my gearbox...what went wrong..
Hmmm? Do you have the original drawing saved on your PC?
How wrong are they? Offset by a certain amount? Located in the wrong place?

It couldn't be a simple as metric vs. english could it? Even NASA
contractors have messed that up.

> Assuming I measured wrong...
I began reaquainting myself with my ancient copy of AutoCAD LT. I started
out just drawing circles and soon remembered an essential tenet of using
these programs. It is essential to establish the **base unit** of
measurement. Though I set the drawing space size to encompass the bike, I
failed to realize the base unit of the drawing size is used in ALL drawing
functions.

The first circle (there are lots of circles on a motorcycle) I drew didn't
show on the screen. 20 minutes into the puzzle the discovery was made. The
circle I drew was so large as to exceed the bounds of the screen.

My second attempt employed using the base unit as a millimeter. Much better
results.

> So, that's what I did over my holiday break. What'd you do?
We played host to friends and family during the ice storm we experienced.
With over 1 million people in GA, SC, and NC without power, lots of slumber
parties were thrown together quickly. Our longest guest stayed 4 days.

Work wise, the same day of the ice storm, we placed a new MRI magnet at St.
Francis Hosptial in Greenville, SC. I liken running around in the freezing
rain to be a factor in a 3 week cold I am still dealing with in a very minor
form. Putting together an MRI system is simple enough, but making it into a
functioning system is another thing altogether. Just this week, the
contractors finished their work so that I could proceed with calibrations
and setups. <sigh>

I bought a read the book "Electric Dreams" by Caroline Kettlewell. Check my
blog for details.

I signed up for another class in my degree quest. Thursday nights will find
me in an Automatic Control Systems course. I suspect it will involve much
Diff EQs that focus on Over, Under, and Critically damped systems. After
that class, I will have about 5 class till completion. Two of those are
Senior Project Proposal and Senior Project.

Anyone want to guess what the Senior Project might be? Think E-Cycle
battery management OR E-Cycle system management. With the small number of
batteries we carry, monitoring and predicting them wouldn't be such a hard
thing. No firm circuit decisions yet, but I'm thinking about what I want it
to do.

Mike, thank you for allowing us a place to meet and focus on our passion.
Two thumbs up for you!
