The 6 charge cycles is called out in the YT documentation. When I spoke to the EV guy in Wisconsin and asked for more details here is what we agreed to.
 
I discharged each battery using a series of 3 to 4 auto tail light like lamps across the bat terminals (cheap). This provides a discharge over several hours. Do not let the voltage fall below 10.5 volts. I used a timer to remind me that it was time to remove the load. Then I charged them up using a smart charger at either 10 or 15 amps peak. Repeat. Time consuming yes, but winters here are cold. The engineers at Johnson Controls use chargers and drainer equipment that are not available to me.
 
The voltage of each battery increased to ~12.9 volts as the charge cycles progressed. I used the same charger to keep them as balanced as possible.
