My name is James, I live in Oakland CA and currently I have a Kawi ZR 7S, a V-Star, and my wife also has a V-Star. I want to build an electric commuter bike based on a UJM frame, a Bandit 1200 or similar large displacement naked bike. My commute is over the Bay Bridge, so I need a range of 40 miles with 38 of those miles at 50-65 mph.
I have everything pretty much worked out theoretically, but I am having the most trouble with the transmission. I don't think I can get the efficiency and range out of an electric motor without taller gearing at highway speeds. The big cruisers have a secondary drive but that would take up a lot of weight and size. Vectrix's planetary gear looks promising, but where can I source one? Maybe I am just spinning my wheels. Will a motor spin fast enough to keep me humming a freeway speeds with decent efficiency? Thanks for your help and if there is an archive where I should look for these answers let me know. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of lyle sloan Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 3:41 AM To: ElectricMotorcycles Subject: Re: [ElectricMotorcycles] eCycle has new CAD images http://www.machineart.com/transfer/hybridconcept/EcyclePressRelease.html --- lyle sloan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Don't know if anyone has been on the eCycle website > recently, but looks like there are some new CAD > images > posted of some of their new design concepts. > > http://www.ecycle.com/powersports/hybrid.htm > > > > ____________________________________________________________________________ ________ > Looking for earth-friendly autos? > Browse Top Cars by "Green Rating" at Yahoo!
