Guys,

I've been lurking for a while as I gear up to do my first electric
motorcycle conversion. On another project I had a need to run a PMG-132
motor in reverse. A sticker on the back of the motor indicates the
preferred rotation direction. I wanted to be sure, so I emailed the Perm
folks in Germany. Here is their response:

"you can also run the motor counter clockwise, but it is not the best
solution, if you run the motors with up to 48 V and not too high Amperage it
is no problem, only if you get up to 60-72V the brush life will go down
rapidly and the motor can heat up very quickly. If you have a possiblity I
would recommend to install a temperature sensor on the brushholder side, to
check temperature if the alltrax can handle it. And check the current that
comes out of the alltrax, and limit it to 100 A continous. If you don't do
that the motor will pull all amperage he will get from the controller and
this could be high risk of burning down the motor."

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Jonathan B.
