Its just DC controllers dont have the feature nor are there separate regulators at this time.
Here's one that looks like it can do regen: http://www.electricvehiclesusa.com/product_p/co-tpm400.htm How exactly is an AC motor safer? If you directly connect the batteries to the motor then the motor will not turn. This is a key safety advantage, as controllers can do this when they fail.
B.Has anyone tried, or even heard of, continuously-variable transmission (CVT)?
http://visforvoltage.net/search/node/cvt C. Do most electric motors just not need a transmission? It's my opinion that a transmission is not a good idea for a motorcycle, because the following can offer the same advantages for less weight/size/losses/complexity: 1. Go to a higher system voltage 2. Get a larger more powerful motor, or use more than one motor 3. Do both 1 and 2 (kind of like what I did with my project) http://visforvoltage.net/forum-topic/motorcycles-and-large-scooters/587-my-kz750-electric-motorcycle-project However, a transmission might be a good idea for keeping costs down, and still getting good performance.
