Hi Damon The comet has the springs dis-engaged but the weights are stock low weight versions so the rpm never gets high enough with those weights to cause the cvt to go much past 1.5:1 from what I can tell, unloaded it does engage fully, my thinking is the heavier weights, that is consistant with the 500 series, we'll see if the same is true of the 330 low HP unit. The belt does not appear to slip.
I'll have some better info next week when I return to Denver and get the new heavy weights installed (should engage at very low rpm). I have a hand weld tach I can check it with. Plan is to use the stock tach with some mods to indicate motor rpm when I get the speed issue sorted out. Thanks for the inquiry.
