That was the plan, but it is not going to happen.
I will be in Oregon next week.
Thought I would be in the DC area all summer but it did not pan out.
The Jawa is ready though, I will take the first 24V test run today.
I have took several 12V test runs testing brakes, clutch, throttle control
and seat.(Had to make a new seat so my feet could touch the ground)
The clutch and transmission work really well. I can shift up and down using
the clutch, just like normal.
Finished my two stage controller last night. All parts bought local.
Hardware store, Radio Shack and Auto parts store.
I am trying out some new contactors(solenoids). They are 24V continuous
duty. 120A make, 85A continuous, 65A break. Just two of them for the 2 stage
controller.
They came from a local Auto parts store that has a lot of truck parts. Made
by Cole Hersey. The part # of these contactors and
a schematic of the controller will be on the site soon.
Right now at 12V, the Jawa draws a little over 100A as I go through the 4
gears and settles back down to about 60A at max rpm at 12V. (Which is about
30mph on level ground)
Field weakening will be added for the 5th gear.
A couple of chain guards to fabricate and Jawa will be race ready. Lanyard
is installed.
Can't wait to put 24V on that motor and see if those contactors will hold
up.
Jack.

I always like going to his site and it looks like he
is working on his third cycle using a Jawa and its
existing tranny. I even like the innovative way he
routed the chain thru the cylinder. http://www.poormansev.com/id56.html
