The first statement is wise. I am not sure any of us outsiders *know* anything. You should all do exactly the opposite of what *i* do for instance... I thought Google overpriced at $80!
My only good pick was telling my dad to buy Apple when it was $11. He said his guy said not to both because Apple was going out of business. From this I learned that if I know a market, particularly a company like Apple, that the 'experts' aren't very expert. This is the ONLY time I've ever picked a stock that did anything but I still remind my dad about it.
