Subject: [ElectricMotorcycles] Engine Weight

I'm trying to get a feel for how much weight is removed when you pull
the ICE and transmission out of a donor bike. Obviously it varies a lot,
but even a couple of examples would help. I'm hoping to build my EM
using a street-bike for the donor (500-750cc range).

Steve
I pulled the engine and battery out of my Suzuki GS 550 www.suzukicycles.org/GS-series/GS550E.shtml
The book dry weight was 430 pounds.
After removing the 4 cylinder engine/trans as well as the battery and chain the frame weighed 207 pounds.
So it looks like the engine, battery and chain come to 223 pounds.

If you're interested in my Suzuki chassis it could be yours if you come and get it.
At the moment there's another project that needs the garage space.
I'd contemplate crating it for shipment for a few bucks.
If you're interested I can send a pic.
