Hi Everyone,

I have some great news to share. The FLEAA is now going to be holding
regularly scheduled monthly meetings and technical workshops! Our membership
keeps growing and we have a great group of highly talented folks. We have a
fantastic meeting location thanks our club Secretary Bob Fuerstenau. He is
opening up his auto service shop, Coastal Auto and Tire in Boca Raton so we
can use the space there to meet and hold technical sessions every month. So
we have an excellent club house!

Our meetings will be on the second Saturday of the month starting at 0930
(EST). The format will be to hold our general meeting first and then hold a
technical workshop. Afterwards if anyone has something they need help with
or help troubleshooting we can use the time for hands-on work. Every month
the club will provide coffee and doughnuts - donations gladly accepted.
Charging is available on-site at the shop. Bob has several 120 and 240V
outlets that can be used and we will be installing others in the future - so
bring your EV!

This upcoming Saturday, May 12th, will start a multipart technical workshop
on EV conversions. We will start next week by reviewing what goes into
converting a car to electric, what makes a good donor vehicle, what
components make up all the systems needed for an EV, types of drive systems,
transmission vs. direct drive and where to source the parts for your
project.

Next month we will be going over batteries. We will discuss battery types,
connections, monitoring, charging, protection, cabling and more. We will
announce the following session then - we are going to work to announce the
next topic at least one month ahead of time.

This month after the technical session we will be installing an e-meter into
Bob's new Toyota Tacoma conversion - ToyVolta. If you would like to know how
an e-meter works and is installed, come on out and get your hands dirty!

This month we will also be holding a silent auction for a signed copy of
"Who Killed the Electric Car?". It has been signed on the cover by both
Chris Paine, the producer and Chelsea Sexton, the star and EV1 Specialist.
The proceeds will go to the FLEAA.

The address for Coastal Tire and Auto is: 35 SW 1st Ave, Boca Raton, FL

There is a map to Coastal on our website, under upcoming events:

If anyone has any questions please let me know and I hope to see everyone at
the meeting. Tell your friend and neighbors!

Thanks,

Shawn Waggoner
