Greetings EV Enthusiasts,
It has been a great weekend for BEVs. There were some wonderful vehicles at the SunDay Challenge, and the media was definitely interested. We made it on the local TV channel and in the local newspaper as well. The eBox performed flawlessly, I really couldn't ask for more, even the range makes it quite usable for long trips. I left Palm Beach with a partially depleted full charge from Paul Liddle's house and made it to Steve Clunn's without a problem, thanks to my Garmin GPS. I had enough of a charge left from Steve's place to run in the autocross event at the Florida Solar Energy Center on Saturday. I placed first in the EV category and third overall; later that day I passed the 100 mile mark on the same charge. I took the cameraman from the local TV station for a "spin" on my last run in the autocross; EVs are a natural for drifting :-) I let him drive my eBox afterward; another convert :-) I got a partial charge Sunday before the road rally and placed third in the EV category, mostly because of confusing instructions, and it was my first real road rally. I topped off my charge after the road rally. Monday was a day for interesting presentations, especially from Dr. Gupta from Electrovaya who believes Lithium battery capacity will double over the next 2 to 3 years. I plugged in at FSEC while attending the seminars; happiness is a high amp charge :-) Special thanks to Bill Young, Shawn Waggoner, Charles Whalen, Cliff Rassweiler, and all the others who made the SunDay Challenge so enjoyable. Special thanks to Tom Gage and all the others from AC Propulsion as well, for creating one of the finest EVs on the road. My next stop is the 2007 Florida Renewable Energy Expo in Orlando after a refreshing 240 volt 50 amp charge at FSEC. Chelsea Sexton will be there, along with 2000 or so EV enthusiasts; ah, nirvana :-) Get a charge out of life - buy an EV. Andrew
