I think that if Cracker Barrel was presented with the right pitch you could get them on board. Remember that they are a business, so I think that the pitch should address that. First how much would it cost to install a couple of outlets capable of charging the EV, $2K, $3K? Then maybe suggest that they receive a modest fee for the charge, say $10. Better than a tank of gas ($30+ for my 12 gallon tank). Then of course the wait and what the occupants do with the time; spend money in the store and eat. And lastly, the PR part, they look "GREEN". Explain how long you think it would take them to recover the cost of installation of the outlets, hopefully less than a year, at which time they would begin to become profitable with the value added feature of the PR, being "GREEN".

For anyone that is looking to take their EV to the Keys...Cracker Barrel would be ideal. Let hope they see the light...and install charging stations at their restaurant. It would be great PR for them. It is a great idea and seems to be the perfect venue. We can discuss this idea at the Board Meeting this weekend. I could just see people having an old fashioned meal and maybe a little rocking in their rocking chairs while their EV sips a little electric nrg for the next leg of the trip. It fits with the "Slow Food Movement". Ahhhh...Time to savor life! It seems like they would be ideal for longer trips since they are typically located along the freeways, and can provide someplace to wait while the EV charges. It seems the 'advocates' are making great headway with the media and getting great attention. While I agree that some hybrids and EV's are hard to hear, I think mandating that cars produce noise is not the right answer. What do you guys think? I personally enjoy the silence of driving an EV around. The driver should be responsible enough to observe his/her surroundings while driving. http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9874568-7.html?tag=nefd.pulse Shawn _____ _______________________________________________ Florida EAA mailing list [email protected] http://www.floridaeaa.org _____ _______________________________________________ Florida EAA mailing list [email protected] http://www.floridaeaa.org _____ No virus found in this incoming message.
