Alan, Those are the most impressive results I have seen to date on green
driving of EVs. I would like some more details, if possible. Can you email me
at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks. Fran

Subject: [FLEAA] First Day with the Electric Cabriolet

  Greetings FLEAA,
Here is the results from today's test with the 1989 VW Cabriolet. I
thought everyone might be interested in seeing some hard numbers.

  a. Total miles on the Cabriolet = 25 miles (real world driving of stop
lights, accelerating to keep up with traffic, and 45+ mph)
  b. Total % drained = 65%
  c. Time to recharge from 35% = 8.5 hours @120V/10.5A
  d. Total KWH used to charge = 9.3KWH (or approx $1.03 to charge@ $0.11KWH)
  e. Price per mile = $0.04 cents
  f. Solar energy generated today = 5.786KWH (it was partly cloudy in Miami
today)
  g. Price per mile using today's solar energy (5.8KWH) + grid backup
(3.5KWH)= $0.016 (did not generate enough to fully charge the batteries today)
  h. Total saved on gas = 1 gallon
  i. Total CO2 saved(1) = .78lbs/mile *25 miles = 19.5 lbs

Many thanks to Steve Clunn and Audrey for all of the long nights and hard
work on the conversion.

  Allan
