Wow! Cudos to Andrew and Paul for doing a great job of representing EVs and the development of the technology to the general public. Andrew has a really professional approach in presenting information to the average person. That very thing is so crucial right now as we have some EVs that are now available (pure EV conversions, high end new EVs like EBox, Vetrix, Tesla, and Prius plug-ins) with, perhaps some "Sunrises" on the horizon). So now we really need people like you two to lead the way in teaching others of us how to effectively market these great vehicles to the public. I was so glad this past week to meet with Charles Whalen and the Vetrix team who brought their wonderful Emotorcycles to Tallahassee. Charles wrote letters to several representatives that paved the way to a 20 minute meeting with the representative from his district. Those of you who aren't from the capitol city are not aware of how rare it is to get 20 minutes with a representative at all, ever, for anything. Charles made progress that will be felt in the field of EV development in FLorida for some time to come! Although the lower escelon of the decision makers did not come in large numbers I feel that Charles & Vetrix made good inroads here in Tallahassee. I hope to see some of those great bikes zooming around the streets of Tally Town soon! We are progressing in developing a subchapter of the FLEAA in N. Florida now. I am so glad to have this group! Hello Everyone, RiverFest was a good event, but not as big as expected. Jocelyn O'Neill was expecting around 3,000 to 5,000 people, but I think it was more like 1,200 or so at best. There were lots of exhibits and activities, and a band, but I think the weather forecast dampened people's expectations and many may have stayed home. I passed out information on EVs and a copy of the EAA membership form to all who were interested, but only 30 or so made it to our exhibit. Paul Renneisen helped with the set up and tear down of the exhibit, and made a good impression as a candidate for Congress. Matt and Leia stopped by for a visit and Matt had some good conversations with people about DC conversions. The head ranger of the park was very interested in an EV truck conversion for around the park and an EV enthusiast from FPL was very interested in working with us on a project. I think FPL would be a great partner in the EV movement. Paul had some good ideas. We definitely need signs and banners, especially for any event not specifically for and about EVs. People go to some events not expecting to see EVs, so we need to get their attention. We could benefit from a portable TV and DVD player to show EV videos. I will plan to be better prepared for the next event. R.
