Hi all,

Andrew Roddy asked me in a post earlier today if I could provide a revised
list of upcoming events. Here below is an annotated update on upcoming
events.

Best regards,

Charles Whalen
Florida EAA

Saturday April 19
-------------------
1) Deerfield Beach Earth Day Event
    S. Ocean Way between E. Hillsborough Blvd. and SE 4th St.
    10am - 4pm

This event has apparently not come together and has again been cancelled
this year or is extremely scaled down and absolutely minimal. Event
organizer Cheryl Miller has not contacted us about exhibiting this year, as
she always did in the past. FLEAA member Harvey Bennett had contacted
Cheryl Miller and planned to contact the Mayor and City Commissioners of
Deerfield Beach with regard to attempting to re-establish support for this
event, but we have not heard anything from Harvey on this.

2) Vero Beach Earth Day Event
    Riverside Park, Vero Beach
    12pm - 6 pm

This event is on, as scheduled, but I don't believe there will be any EVs
there. FLEAA member Jonathan Ortiz of Foreign Affairs had planned to
deliver 5 Vectrix electric motorcycles at this event but had to reschedule
these deliveries due to scheduling conflicts. I was planning to attend but
have decided not to after Jonathan Ortiz pulled out.

3) Stuart Earth Day Event

This event has apparently been cancelled due to loss of the venue. This
same loss of venue has apparently resulted in the loss of our charging
station there in Stuart. I will have to check on this situation with regard
to our charging station there the next time I am up that way.

Sunday April 20
------------------
1) Key Biscayne EarthFest
    Biscayne Nature Center, Crandon Park
    Key Biscayne, FL
   10am - 6pm

This event has been radically scaled down from last year and will be just a
low-budget shell of what it was last year, with likely only a couple hundred
people attending vs. a couple thousand last year. There will be no major
media coverage this year, unlike last year when every single Miami TV
station was there. Expectations need to be greatly lowered for this year's
event vis-a-vis last year. There has been a change of organizers this year,
with the event being handed off to a couple of low-level staffers, vs.
last year's event which was organized and promoted by three of Miami's
best-connected, high-powered enviro movers & shakers. Demo rides will
apparently not be allowed at this year's event. Static display only. The
event organizers this year are very slow in responding to emails, taking
over a week turnaround. I have written them again this evening and am
passing the baton off to Allan Miller, who is going to run with this and try
to get the ball rolling on this for us. Allan is on Key Biscayne every day
and is going to visit the Biscayne Nature Center either tomorrow or
Wednesday to try to expedite finalizing the details of our participation.

So far, there are two FLEAA members planning to attend this event -- Allan
Miller with his electric VW Cabriolet and Andrew Roddy with his AC
Propulsion eBox. If anyone else would like to bring an EV to this event,
please contact Allan Miller at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2) Green Apple Festival
    Bicentennial Park
    Downtown Miami
    1pm - 6pm

This is the first year for this event. The primary event organizer is very
far off-site and remote, in Berkeley, California, and is organizing 8 such
simultaneous Green Apple Festivals in 8 major cities around the country on
the same day. This same event organizer is wildly optimistic in claiming
that there will be 20,000 people attending this event in Miami. The only
basis he has for making such outlandish claims is that this figure of 20,000
people is apparently the number of people that attended this event last year
in San Francisco. But Miami is not San Francisco, and I would frankly be
very surprised if more than a few hundred people show up at this event.
>From what I've heard from someone who knows, they are desperately seeking
exhibitors, and that is consistent with my communications with them and the
vibes I get. Nevertheless, I am planning to attend this event together with
Cliff Rassweiler, who will be bringing ProEV's electric Subaru Impreza race
car. I haven't decided yet whether I will bring my Vectrix bike or my
RAV4-EV. We are not allowed to give demo rides. Static display only. They
are not providing any booths, tents, tables, chairs, etc., ... merely space
for exhibitors to put up their own tents, tables, and chairs that exhibitors
must bring themselves. Cliff Rassweiler is planning on bringing his 10'x10'
pop-up tent.

If anyone else would like to bring an EV to this event, please contact me
