Hi all,

This is especially directed at those who were intending to exhibit and give
rides in their EVs at the Key Biscayne EarthFest this Sunday, April 20,
namely Allan Miller, Andrew Roddy, and myself.

We had been notified by the event organizers (new this year, different from
last year's event organizers) several days ago that they were permitting us
to give demo rides in our EVs at the event, just as had been the case last
year.

Now, however, late on a Friday afternoon, near the close of business and
just 42 hours before the start of the event, the event organizers have
thrown us a curve ball and pulled the rug out from under us by informing us
of a last-minute requirement that they are just now saddling us with for the
demo rides -- that in order to give demo rides, they are requiring us to go
out and purchase separate, special event liability insurance that
indemnifies the venue host, Miami-Dade County in this case, from any
third-party liability claims resulting from this demo ride activity.

Not only is it too late for us to go out and purchase such event liability
coverage, now after the close of business on a Friday afternoon, but
furthermore the Florida EAA does not have the funds and budget to do this,
with the sole exception of our one event a year where we do this -- BBB. We
generally decline to participate in events where the organizers demand
special event liability & indemnity coverage from us.

Having said that, it is still the case that we can bring our EVs to this
event and exhibit them, but solely on static display.

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news on this change of policy and plans for
Sunday's Key Biscayne EarthFest event.

Charles Whalen
