National Clean Cities Program Information:
EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership has done some fuel economy testing
on low-rolling resistance tires for heavy-duty vehicles
(http://www.smartwayfinancecenter.com/technology.cfm?productTypeID=4&productTypeCategoryID=9
<http://www.smartwayfinancecenter.com/technology.cfm?productTypeID=4&productTypeCategoryID=9>)
and mentions a 3% fuel economy benefit. This may be where the
individuals contacting you are getting that number. 3% is a bit high for
passenger vehicles, as we have typically seen estimates of 1-2%. See
http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/080715-Low-Rolling-Resistance-Tires-Boost-MPG/
for a July article on the topic.
The AFDC Web site has a good page on these tires
(http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/vehicles/fuel_economy_tires_light.html),
which includes links to an NREL modeling study as well as California’s
Fuel Efficient Tire Program.
Please feel free to contact us should you have additional questions.

Hi
I am getting questions about low rolling resistance tires like the kind
on EVs.
Some people are saying that you can get 3 percent better gas mileage.
Is there any reports or studies on this other them the one I have.?
