Folks, I am writing to let you know how the August 30th meeting went. You can see a description of the meeting and view pictures taken here:
http://www.evprogress.org/Polk%20Meeting%20Aug%2008/First%20Winter%20HavenMeeting%208-30-08.htm The question is where do we go from here? I am going to let things settle, and to some degree leave this up to you all. I am looking for encouragement and suggestion from our local Polk County people. I am thrilled with the support we received from members of the FLEAA (Florida Electric Automobile Association) around the state who joined us on Saturday and those who brought hybrid vehicles. The solidarity of these EV Enthusiasts is remarkable. Their participation makes this type of meeting worthwhile for newcomers to the Electric Vehicle movement. They are a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning about the status and progress of the Electric Car. Thanks to all of them, from all those Polk members present. We have on our list some notable Polk County leaders from Education, Government and Industry. I want to thank them and encourage their continued support. To those in Education, I want to encourage you to inform your students about our group and this list. Have them contact me if they would like to receive these communications and participate in events. Likewise I encourage those in Government and Industry to advise your associates who may be interested to let me know and I will add them to the list. I received a suggestion that we might meet on a weekday evening. I had chosen a Saturday morning because this has worked well for other groups in the State. I may have made a mistake by choosing Labor Day weekend. In any case, please provide your input as to when and how often we should do this type of thing. In particular, when should we do this again? My goal is to encourage communication among the members on this list. Please take time to share information about yourself and your interests. For example, the educators at TRAVISS have a Solectria Chevy S10 that is not working. This might be a good project for the group to help them get their truck back on the road. We have people with skills who have never converted a car to Electric, but have built Low Riders and Hot Rods. Their knowledge and skills would be valuable on a conversion project. There are many resources in our group, that if focused could make things happen. Many of you on this list do not live in or even near Polk County. If anyone would like to be removed, please let me know. Cheers, Al Lococo www.evprogress.org Think Globally, Act Locally! Plug-in, we have the technology, the NiMH powered RAV4 EV is the proof. ----- Original Message ----- _______________________________________________ Florida EAA mailing list [email protected] http://www.floridaeaa.org
