Well, when you add speed you usually loose mpg. Also, even most of our smaller cars weigh more then twice the weight of the model t. We've got a lot more safety features then back then, a lot more comfort features, those all add up as weight and less efficiencies. I'm sure the motors have the technology to have higher mpg then the model t if they were pushing cars that only weight 1200 lbs and only drove at 45 mph.
