To all Electric Vehicle enthusiasts: As many of you know, Black Bay Technologies (www.blackbayev.com) develops and manufactures electric vehicles and components. We are located in Tarpon Springs and host the monthly meetings of the Suncoast Electric Vehicle Association (www.suneva.org). We would like to invite everyone to attend the next meeting of SunEVA on December 6 at our facility at 712 Wesley Ave., Suite B, Tarpon Springs 34689. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. and generally lasts until about 2, although some remain later to work on projects. Meetings usually begin with a roundtable discussion of current electric vehicle topics. After this, attendees have an opportunity to view and learn about the electric vehicles in attendance and even have a chance to drive one or more. Around noon, those who are interested in "wrenching" get to work on the club projects. The club is currently converting a 1999 VW Jetty to electric drive. At the September meeting, all internal combustion engine components were removed. In October, plans were made for the control system and computer interface and work was begun on the battery racks. At last month's meeting, work continued on the battery racks and plans were reviewed for the conversion, including specification of parts, location of batteries, etc. At the December meeting, the motor adapter will be installed and work on the battery racks will be completed. Work will begin on the electrification of the air conditioning and power steering. This is a great opportunity to participate in a fun and educational project! At this month's meeting, we expect to have several electric vehicles in attendance from other parts of the state and possible media attendance. Members of the Florida Electric Auto Association, based in Ft. Pierce, also plan to attend. Please come and support the electric vehicle movement!! All are welcome to attend.
