The bankruptcy protection and takeover will have no impact what so ever on the sales or service for the Smart Fortwo and will likely strengthen the entire Daimler group. As well, Roger Penske, (his group smart USA) the exclusive importer of the Smart Fortwo, has become the new owner of GM's Saturn brand. Mr. Penske disclosed he plans to concentrate on making electric cars as the main objective of the Saturn brand under his new ownership and silenced any rumors by saying Saturn dealers will not sell the Smart. With oil passing $70 a barrel both their proposals are music to many ears. It appears the Penske Group is ahead of the curve and is moving in the right direction.
