Thanks Clayton ...

A supplementary question if someone can help. All of this material about AJAX,
SDK's and command lines is targetted at developers ... are there any rich
sources of information and advice out there for someone like me who is
restricted to using the 'canned' functionality provided by MOSS?

I've done a lot of searching and found a fair bit of material - even bought the
'For Dummies' book ... but I need more!!!!

Thanks,
Warwick

Subject: RE: [OzMOSS] SP1 ENHANCEMENTS?

Hi Warwick,

I came across a resource page on msdn discussing areas relating to SP1. I did
up a reference entry on my blog linking to the page
http://claytonj.wordpress.com/2007/12/18/whats-new-in-sharepoint-sp1/

Overview:
"Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 SP1 and Windows SharePoint Services
3.0 SP1 include several hot fixes for Office SharePoint Server and Windows
SharePoint Services, Windows Server 2008 compatibility, ASP.NET for AJAX
compatibility and support, and new Stsadm commands for repartitioning databases
and renaming host site collections."

The page has a reference link to a whitepaper discussing what is inside the
service pack (small but useful), and there was an update to the MOSS SDK & WSS
SDK released on December 07 to reflect new functionality in the SP (only
available online) and further updated material.

The whitepaper has reference links to various Microsoft articles discussing:

· About Service Pack 1

· Installing on Windows Server® 2008 (with IIS 7)

· ASP.NET AJAX support (you could do this anyway...not sure what the
update here is)

· New operations and properties for the Stsadm command line tool

· Recommendations for 64-bit hardware (WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 are the
last products to run on 32-bit OS, so plan ahead)

Hope this helps.

Subject: [OzMOSS] SP1 ENHANCEMENTS?

I had a look at the SP1 documentation and it seems to be all about bug fixes
and performance improvements.

Are there any functionality enhancements in it and if so, where can I find
information about them?

Thanks,

Warwick Moyse
