Then why not just assign security directly for the users? Sounds like another
level of complexity you can simply avoid.

Is the clientID different for each user? Then that is not the way to do
audiences. Audiences are there to create virtual groups of users based on an
attribute. Then, when you edit a web part you can specify which audiences
should see it. In SharePoint lists you can add an audience field so that each
list item can be targeting an audience.

had a look at audiences but could not find anyway to actually have it use the
ClientID parameter and use this to display only the data pertaining to this
customerID.

That is done using audiences (which is not security - just a view filter,
people will still be able to see the information if they know what they are
doing). Research audiences in MOSS.

from the quick read your using this within a search I want this to be like a
security filter or a parameter for each web part to only display the
information related to the user ClientID field in the persons SharePoint
Profile.

this will basically be a parameter that each of the web parts will use on the
page. Sorry if I've misunderstood the link not enough coffee yet.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Adding user properties

Hey all,

I am attempting to add a user property ClientID I've done this under User
properties and Profiles now when I am attempting to create a Current user
filter by this Value for a current user filter it's not in the drop down bow.

I think this is how I go about it basically our db has a field called ClientID
and I'm going to need to enter this for each client suppose if the above is not
correct wondering how I filter the users view by this field in the SharePoint
Profile?

Should I be doing via the designer?
