Hi John This is the default functionality for lists that have audience targeting enabled. You will use web parts to target list items to audiences. The actual list itself won't apply audience targeting when users browse to the list and view the list items. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms563693.aspx If you want to limit what users/groups can view in the underlying list then you will need to implement item level security.
