Hi David, the ID would actually do nicely. Although I'd love to get the employee name into there as well.
How do I use the ID column value in a calculated formula. It seems MOSS is very picky about which columns can and can't be used, and how. I've tried [id] but get the error: The formula contains reference(s) to field(s). It's a Single Line of Text by default and it's type can't be changed. Even if you change the name of the column, it's still called Title internally. However each list item will have an internal ID associated with it. You can see this in action when you open the DispForm.aspx for a list item as the URL will have a query string like ?ID=<number>. The Today function doesn't appear to work and there doesn't seem to be a NOW equivalent or simple function to enter the seconds since epoch, or even a random number. I can't delete or change the type for the Title column because the content type uses Item as a parent. Is there some other way to get the hyperlink/action functionality for a column?
