Will modifying system content types be very risky (may be overridden by service
pack upgrades, etc)?

I personally will create my own base content type that inherits from Item and I
can do whatever I want with my base content type.

Subject: [OzMOSS] Attaching an Event Handler to a System Content Type

Hi guys,

I am trying to programmaticaly attach an event handler to a system content
type. Has anyone tried this before? This is the problem and solution I have
thought about:

Problem:
1) All items of my site collection must be added with two columns for searching
purposes;
2) These columns have to be programmatically setup and have to be hidden.

Solution:
1) I created a site column to the System.Item content type so that every
content type in my site collection gets added with those automatically;
2) I have created an event handler to populate these columns every time an item
is created;
3) Now, how can I attach this evt handler to the System.Item content type? If
it is not possible I will have to attach it to every content type of my site
collection.

Please let me know what you think about this solution.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Miguel Lima.
