Hi all, Recently I've been reading about this magical beast called the Document Management Center in Sharepoint, which seems on casual skimming, to have the potential of solving a fairly large dilemma for us. I'm hoping someone here who knows more about it will be able to either completely burst my bubble or point me to the right direction before I get too far.
The dilemma we have is that we have two web applications both with their own SSP. There are some documents that are unique to each application, but there's also a large number of documents that are shared between the two. For the sake of records management and our own sanity, what we really want is one central location to store the common documents so our authors will only ever be making changes to documents displayed via both sites, in the one location. For example, the annual report would need to be accessible via both our intranet and our internet applications, but if there's a mistake in it, we would only want to update the one annual report and have the changes available on both sites. This is where I'm hoping a DMC could come in. Is it possible for two web applications to share the one DMC?? Or is the only way to semi resolve the problem is to create a DMC (or a site document library) for each application and have one act as the "master" from which documents are then deployed to the other DMC (or site document library) on the other application (which would be read only)? Or is there a more elegant solution that I should be considering instead? Can anyone out there enlighten me? :-) Cheers, Zelda Zelda Leung Principal Developer Legal Aid QLD | IT Services Ph: 3238 3626 | 44 Herschel St, Brisbane 4000 DISCLAIMER: The contents of this email (including any attachments) are confidential and privileged and are intended only for the addressee.
