Hi All,

I'm in the same seat as Damian, I only have SL 2 installed (not counting
"Silverlight 1.0 SDK Visual Studio 2005 Template") and can view 1.0 things ok.
I can view both DG.tv and Channel 9 without problem.

Stephen did you try uninstalling and re-installing?

Stephen and Damian, as Scott clarified us, the problem with DG.tv and some
other SL sites is not with Silverlight player but with the Javascript they used
to detect if Silverlight exists in the user computer.

There are some good resources about how to detect SL in the right way.

I'd suggest uninstalling all Silverlight from your PC and trying again, just
with Silverlight 2.0.

Small problem with that... If you follow the link and install the Silverlight
1.0 client it tells you sorry, I already have a newer Silverlight client
installed.

So how do I watch Silverlight 1.0 content if I have Silverlight 2.0 client
installed? Small oversight don't you think? I can't be the only person hitting
this issue.

so far I've just hit the site (have just come across another Microsoft site
doing the same thing. Channel 9), couldn't see the content and given up. maybe
there's a simple solution I've not found yet?

cheers,
Stephen

Correct, Silverlight 2 will be backwards complaint with Silverlight 1.0
(keeping in mind Silverlight 1.1 will have varying experiences and most likely
won't be compliant). At the moment, Kordsey has DG.TV<http://dg.tv/> checking
for SL 1.0 (good citizen) and so the script is simply not updating to
Silverlight 2 or above. In it's mind it's "IF != 1.0 GO GET IT" J

Am I correct in thinking that if I have the Silverlight 2.0 client installed
that it should also handle Silverlight 1.0 sites?

I'm getting the Install gadget showing up on DG.Tv
(http://delicategeniusblog.com/?cat=24) and when I click it, it downloads the
Silverlight 1.0 install exe. That scares me, I've had bad experiences with
mixing the two clients, it never used to know what version was what. Has that
been sorted out? Should I just throw caution to the wind and install it?

cheers,
Stephen
