Hey Chris,
I noticed that you are building a tool to notify of succesful x failed builds.
Have you checked out VS 2005 Powertoys RC1?
I´ve included a post on my blog that helps you configure a .Net 3.0 environment (http://manicprogrammer.com/cs/blogs/heynemann/archive/2006/09/17/118.aspx ). It includes where to download VS2005 SDK that contains a tool that does exactly what you want and a little more. It lets you configure some alerts, and one of the alerts include builds.

Hope it helps,
