I've raised this as an issue with the VSTS team, both in the forums as well as formally. That way if there is a change I can change them in the master build type and then just merge the changes into the branches. We have a set of custom made tasks files and properties plus several .proj files that we import into multiple build files to share a large set of targets. How can I do this in TFS Builds? First I tried to copy the common files into a separate folder in the \TeamBuildTypes\Shared\ and do a custom get of the files out of TFS as part of the BeforeEndToEndIteration in the TFSBuild.proj. However I cannot import the files in the TFSBuild in order to give them control when I want because the files don't exist when the main proj file is loaded. I can execute the targets in them using MSBuild but I don't really want to do that. I would actually like to have defined in them tasks like BeforeClean and BeforeGet that would get merged/overwritten in the main TFS. It would work as expected if I would save all the files in the same folder as the TFSBuild.proj but this is not really an option as I would duplicate lots of code. Any ideas/recommendations/advice about how to do this? (My main build file is about 2000 lines and I need to create 3 build types that would share about 80% of the functionality from the main build file.) Regards, Corneliu I.
