Hi Mitch,

The following appears to be a well known solution, it maybe a red herring:

PROBLEM
Failed to load EventService proxy object: Could not load file or assembly
'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Common.Library, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied..
01/05/07 11:00:16 DDSet_Status: Process returned 1120
01/05/07 11:00:16 DDSet_Status: Found the matching error code for return value
'1120' and it is: '28100'
01/05/07 11:00:16 DDSet_Error: 1120
MSI (s) (7C!68) [14:10:37:877]: Product: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team
Foundation Server - ENU -- Error 28100.Error loading Event web service.

RESOLUTION
Giving modify and read and execute permissions to TFSService Account in
“d:\Program
Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server\TF Setup\” folder.
(Customer had installed TFS on D drive)
ROOT CAUSE

Yes it did - thanks Mitch. (What a hack though!)

Now I'm stuck on:
"Error 28100.Error loading Event web service."

(Yes, I've given permissions to %windir%\temp, checked asp.net 2, restarted all
the services, etc)

Subject: [OzTFS] TFS Install error: stsadm.exe non-zero value: -1

Ok brains trust – I’m stuck.

I’m getting this error while installing TFS. Has anybody experienced it before?

Error 32000.

The Commandline C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\60\Bin\stsadm.exe" ... ' returned non-zero value: -1.

The critical bit of information is “non-zero value: minus 1”, there’s plenty of
references to other codes, just not this one.

I suspect it’s something to do with frontpage extensions being installed on the
server, and then being removed before starting the TFS install process.

Any ideas?
