I've had a few people ask me how to setup a TFS development server, so I thought I'd share it for the benefit of the list.
The easiest way to get a personal development server to muck around with TFS customisations, etc is to download the training VPC. 5GB VSTS Training VPC (aka VSTS in a box) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=527E2A17-1DEA-4 D0B-9484-6AE43D00E570&displaylang=en If however, you want a development server that matches your production environment, you will need to perform a backup + install new TFS server + restore databases + change InstanceID GUID Changing the instanceID after restoring a backup http://www.holliday.com.au/blog/tfs-instanceid-servermapxml-and-how-to-c ause-havoc.html Regards, Grant OzTFS.com - to unsubscribe from this list, send a message back to the list with 'unsubscribe' as the subject.
