The short answer is: no. "Visual Studio Team Explorer" is equivalent to VSS Explorer.
The long answer is, have a look at these: * TF.exe is the command line client that comes with Team Explorer (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc31bk2e.aspx) * Teamprise Explorer is a Java implementation of Team Explorer.
