I am interested in finding and implementing several "quick check"-type assessment of reading and writing. For example, if I have taught a mini-lesson on predictions, I might have the students write predictions prior to the indep. reading that day, and provide evidence for their predictions on the back of the card. During indep reading, I can go around and "quick check" to see who may benefit from invitational groups, etc.
I would love to hear other ideas of ways to quick check student's independent level of practice regarding any strategies associated with reading or writing you might use in your classrooms. Thanks!
