How do you handle the "girl groups" and "Brat Packs"
that tend to form in our classes, on our teams and in
our schools? I have a no tolerance for bulling
attitude and the kids know it. I even read excerpts of
the book Queen Bees and Wannabees aloud to the class
few years back. There was a particular group that
needed to hear that we were on to them. However, I
think it is the subtle bullying that can be worse. The
the behind the back stuff, eye rolling, expressive
gestures and "meaningful" eye contact, as I referred
to in an earlier post can cause more damage than, the
name calling and physical stuff. This is the stuff
that escalates. I also suspect that some of the kids
who present the kindest face to adults and spout the
ideology we want to hear, are some of the worst of
this kind of kid. How do you curb this behavior?
